Google Tips

The first and most important thing you will have to do is determine the keywords you are tuning your website for. The trick here is to determine what your potential users are likely to search for. Also remember, do not try and tune for generic keywords because there will be a ton of other sites who have already tuned for it. Lets take an example. Lets say you have an Indian Restaurant called Banjara Palace in Bangalore. The first instinct may be to tune for "Banjara Palace" or "Indian Restaurant". Anyone who already knows your name is not your target audience, although its important to tune for your name as well.  Even if you get in the top list for Indian Restaurant, whats the point, someone in Japan who searches finds you will probably never come to Malleshwaram for lunch.

All racing fans are very familiar with the famous Ferrari "prancing horse" symbol. The famous symbol of Ferrari is a black prancing horse on yellow background, usually with the letters S F for Scuderia Ferrari. The horse was originally the symbol of Count Francesco Baracca, a legendary "asso" (ace) of the Italian air force during World War I, who painted it on the side of his planes. Baracca died very young on June 19, 1918, shot down after 34 victorious duels and many team victories.

 Olympics Logo

Cities around the world are bidding to host The 2016 Summer Olympics. The host city will be announced at the 121st IOC Session to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on October 2, 2009. The 2016 Summer Paralympics will also be held in the  same city and organized by the same organizing committee.

The following cities are currently in the running. Some of these cities have recently unveiled their logos. The meanings behind these logos described below.

 Chicago 2016 Logos

Chicago - United States

The Chicago logo's central element is the Chicago star, a symbol that adorns the city flag. The six points on the star represent hope, respect, harmony, friendship, excellence and celebration. The colors of the star appear to represent the colors of the Olympics.

"A star tells a story of hope, universally seen as a guiding light for people everywhere,
Placing the Chicago star at the center of our logo symbolizes our desire to put the athletes at the center of the Games — since they're the real stars — and celebrate their accomplishments in the heart of our city." - Organizers

Tokyo 2016 Logos

Tokyo - Japan

The Tokyo 2016 logo takes the form of a traditional Japanese knot known as “MUSUBI”. It integrates the five Olympic colours into a motif of colourful and decorative knotted strings which have long been utilised in Japan to signify blessings during times of celebration.

"This logo, our MUSUBI knot, integrates the values that underpin both the Olympic Movement and Tokyo 2016. It ties together sport and culture, urban and natural environment, Japan and the world, the world and peace" - Organizers

 Madrid 2016 Logos

Madrid - Spain

The Madrid logo is in the shape of the palm of a hand painted in the colors of the Olympic movement. The design features a cartoon hand traced in the colors blue, yellow, green and red with an M drawn into the palm in black over "Madrid 2016." The hand is a symbol to welcome foreigners to the city and its people, with the colors representing the nationalities and cultures living within the city, according to the Madrid committee.

The logo - called "Corle" - the logo was one of 2,700 received by the Madrid bid committee before a short list of 10 were submitted to the public on Sept. 3. The logo received 31.96 percent of the vote, more than double received by the runnerup.

Prague 2016 Logos

Prague - Czech Republic

The Prague logo's design builds on the Antique tradition - olive branch for the Olympic winner. The branch is made out of five stylised green leaves with shadow in a form of wind born ribbons. Each of these elements has its own meaning. The branch has 5 symbolic leaves - matching the number of Olympic circles. Each of the leaves stands for one continent. Altogether the five leaves symbolise the five continents to create a symbolic map of the sports world.

It is a tribute to the athletes from all around the world. The upper ribbons, below the branch, are in the colours of Prague: red and yellow. Below them is a blue ribbon which stands for the river Vltava that flows through Prague. The entire design should evoke movement. Together with the black text PRAHA there are 5 Olympic colours: blue, black, red, yellow and green."

The original logo consisted of green numbers in the year 2016 shaped like a laurel branch as a symbol of victory. The Olympic Committee asked that the logo be changed.

Rio 2016 Logos

Rio de Janiero, Brazil

The Rio De Janiero logo at this point does not seem to have a full designed logo except for the text Rio 2016 in Green. Hopefully a better
looking logo will be up soon.

Image

Doha, Qatar

The Doha 2016 Olympic bid committee has revealed its campaign logo which is a green and purple representation of an aldahma flower. The Aldahma – the ‘Flower of the Spring’ – was chosen to represent the vital and energetic spirit of the season. The Aldahma’s natural habitat in the sands of the desert draws a parallel with the vibrant and colourful life flourishing in the State of Qatar. The calligraphy strokes making the words ‘Doha 2016’ are a unique manipulation of the traditional organic Henna patterns that women use to adorn their hands and arms as part of social and holiday celebrations. The dynamic interaction between the Arabic calligraphy and the English type is an interpretation of modernity.

The committee also revealed that the tagline would be "celebrating change".

The other two cities in the running are Baku, Azerbaijan and Doha, Qatar. These two cities are yet to unveil an official logo.

The North Face, Inc. is an outdoor product company specializing in high-end outerwear, fleece, footwear, and equipment. The clothing and equipment lines are catered towards climbers, mountaineers, skiers, snowboarders, hikers, and endurance athletes. The clothing line is famous for its use on mountaineering expeditions on Mt. Everest and in other extreme outdoor activities.

The North Face brand was established in 1968, in San Francisco, California, when Douglas Tompkins and Kenneth "Hap" Klopp created an equipment retail store that eventually acquired the current name "The North Face". This name was chosen because the north face of a mountain in the northern hemisphere is generally the steepest, coldest, and most difficult face to climb.

The North Face's easily recognizable logo consists of a slightly skewed quarter-circle with two lines running within it. This image is supposedly an interpretation of the famous Half Dome rock formation in Yosemite National Park. Adjacent to the symbol are the words THE NORTH FACE embroidered in large block letters.

Image  Lacoste is a French apparel company founded in 1933 that sells clothing, footwear, perfume, leather goods, watches, eyewear, and most famously, tennis shirts. The Lacoste company was founded in 1933 and takes its name from Rene Lacoste, the world-renowned tennis player and sports enthusiast. Rene Lacoste did not like the traditional shirts used for tennis and teamed up with Andre Gillier, the owner of France's largest knitwear company, to create the knitted cotton pique shirt that revolutionized the sportswear market.

The American press nicknamed Rene Lacoste the "Crocodile" after he made a bet with the Captain of the French Davis Cup team. He had promised Rene a crocodile skin suitcase if he won a match that was important to the team. The American public stuck with this nickname that highlighted Rene's tenacity on the tennis court. A friend of Rene's, Robert George, drew a crocodile that was embroidered on the blazer that he wore on the court from then on.

Space Needle Logo The Space Needle is Seattle is a landmark is Seattle. The Space Needle is a tower that measures about 605 ft from its base to the tip. The Space Needle was built in 1962. I was intrigued by the logo of the Space Needle on a recent trip to Seattle.

The logo consists of an S at the top which represents Seattle. The top part of the  S is smaller that the bottom part of the S to represent the shape of  the tower itself. The top of the S also has a pointed needle. Two strokes of the brush are present at the bottom of the S to represent the tower. The text "space needle" is written in lower case on either side of the logo. I felt this is a very creative logo.

With the NBA playoffs for 2007 reaching its final stages, I thought I would research the logo of the San Antonio Spurs, one of the last 4 team still remaining in the playoffs. The Spurs are one of the hottest team in the NBA this decade having won 3 championships with their big stars Tim Duncan and Tony Parker.

The current logo of the Spurs is the word SpUrs with the letter U drawn as a silver spur.  It is also said that the outline of the logo is said to represent the AT&T center where the Spurs moved to in 2002-2003. The logo was unveiled at the same time as the move to their new home.

Lamborghini Logo - Design and History

 Lamborghini Logo

Lamborghini is an Italian manufacturer of high performance sports cars based in the small Italian village of Sant'Agata Bolognese, near Bologna. Lamborghini is now a subsidiary of German car manufacturer Audi AG, which is in turn a subsidiary of Volkswagen. Lamborghini is the main counterpart to Ferrari in the italian sports car business. The Italian company was founded in 1963 by businessman Ferruccio Lamborghini, who owned a successful tractor factory.

The Lamborghini Charging Bull Logo stands for the founder's, Ferruccio Lamborghini, zodiacal sign (Taurus). Most of the company's cars have been named after famous fighting bulls (oddly most have been spanish bulls not italian).

Interestingly it is said that the choice of an animal and the colors used on the logo (gold on a black background, and a charging bull) are suspiciously similar to the Ferrari logo (a black horse on a yellow background). It is believed that this was no accident on the part of Lamborghini, who had a long standing (and not always friendly) rivalry with Ferrari.
