Aparna Keshaviah                                                                                                                                                           aparnak@post.harvard.edu
Trained in Bharatanatyam (south Indian classical dance) and statistics, Aparna Keshaviah performs, teaches, and researches in a hybrid format. Each project integrates artistic exploration with scientific rigor. In performance, she strips Bharatanatyam to the core elements of rhythm and geometry, testing whether cultural mediation is needed for communication.  In scholarship, she is using survey methods (supported by a Fulbright grant in Dance) to probe Bharatanatyam's diversity, extension, and evolution.

In addition to Bharatanatyam, Aparna teaches and performs modern and folk forms of India.  Her understanding of dance is enhanced by over 15 years of training in classical piano and voice.  She holds a Master's in Biostatistics from the Harvard School of Public Health and presently lives Durham, NC.
