The first and most important thing you will have to do is determine the keywords you are tuning your website for. The trick here is to determine what your potential users are likely to search for. Also remember, do not try and tune for generic keywords because there will be a ton of other sites who have already tuned for it. Lets take an example. Lets say you have an Indian Restaurant called Banjara Palace in Bangalore. The first instinct may be to tune for "Banjara Palace" or "Indian Restaurant". Anyone who already knows your name is not your target audience, although its important to tune for your name as well. Even if you get in the top list for Indian Restaurant, whats the point, someone in Japan who searches finds you will probably never come to Malleshwaram for lunch.
Do you own a website, blog, business related to India, then you can get a free listing in the Dinesh.com Indian web directory. This directory has over 5000 listings at this point and a lot of the sections show up in the rankings on Google.
To submit your site, navigate to the proper category and add your listing. The listing will be approved or rejected in about a week. If you site is not related to India or does not meet my standards, it will be rejected. If you find that your site needs a new category, please add it in the description and I will consider it.
Do not submit any "Work At Home" or "Money Making Related Sites"
The iPhone (with careful supervision and airplane mode) also doubles up as a great toy for toddlers. One of the first applications I downloaded for my two year old was First Words, an application that teaches kids how to recognize letters, numbers, shapes and some common objects. The application 8 areas of learning
Letters
Animals
Numbers
Fruits
Shapes
Sports
Colors and
The Beach
Each area has about 8-10 objects and you get about 50 objects on top
of the letters and numbers. When an object is selected, the application
zooms in one the object selected and speaks the word as well. As the
images are loaded, an animation sound is played which my son really
loves. If you have a toddler that is just learning to speak and
recognize images, I would highly recommend this application. With a
combination of colorful graphics, sounds and animation, you cannot go
wrong.
The application costs only $1.99 and its really cheap compared to any alternative that you may have with traditional media.
Price - $1.99
Overall, I think this is a great game that toddlers will love.
Animatch is another one of the matching games available on the iPhone and decided to download it for my son who seems to love matching games like Jirbo and Matches. The reason I was intrigued was the game had images and sounds of animals which was another aspect that I thought my son would love.
The game is one of the best match games I have seen on the iPhone. The animal graphics are very nice and colorful and my son really was happy to see an identify those animals. When you open a tile, it plays the sound of those animals. When my son first played this game, he was very excited to hear the sounds and he would make those sounds everytime the tile opened. Whenever there is a match, the two cells also light up and that presents a nice visual. As you can see from the image on the left, there are images of various animals like a cow, pig, monkey, elephant etc.
Price - 99 cents
Overall, I think this is a great game that toddlers will love.
The Indian print and television advertising agencies are pretty creative in my opinion. Some of the ads that I see on TV and in the newspaper are on par with the commercials here in the United States. A friend of mine sent me these images of some funny print advertisements from India and I thought I would share it with everyone. Some of the these advertisements are commercial in nature and some of them have a social message. In order to view the full image, click on the image below and it will open up in a bigger window. Enjoy.

Druk Air Corporation Limited, operating as Drukair - Royal Bhutan Airlines, is the national airline of the Kingdom of Bhutan and operates a modest scheduled flight network within the South Asian region from its base at Paro Airport in the western dzongkhag of Paro.
Taking its name from Druk, the airline was founded in 1981, ten years after Druk Gyalpo His Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck gradually began to open up the Kingdom from self-imposed isolation, and seven years after welcoming its first foreign visitors. As the only airline flying into Bhutan, Drukair has become a lifeline with the outside world for the Bhutanese people, as well as supporting emerging inbound tourism and export markets.
The name and logo of the airline is based on Druk, the Thunder Dragon of Bhutanese mythology. Druk is a Bhutanese national symbol, and therefore very significant in Bhutan. The Druk is central on the Bhutanese Flag, holding jewels to represent wealth. In Dzongkha, Bhutan is called Druk Yul, or Land of Druk. The Bhutanese leaders are known as Druk Gyalpo - Dragon Kings - because of Druk.
India Post, India's Department of Post, is a government operated postal system in India; it is generally referred to within India as "the post office". The Indian Postal Service, with 155,333 post offices, is the most widely distributed post office system in the world (China is next, with 57,000). The large numbers are a result of a long tradition of many disparate postal systems which were unified in the Indian Union post-Independence. Owing to this far-flung reach and its presence in remote areas, the Indian postal service is also involved in other services such as small savings banking and financial services.
India Post unveiled a new logo in September 2008 to signify that it is all set to attune to the world class postal systems. The new logo has a rectangle in the shape of an envelope in deep red with the image of birds’ wings in bright yellow. Red symbolises the traditional association with post office, along with passion, power and commitment, while yellow communicates hope, joy and happiness. It sends the message of India Post as a dynamic organisation with modern and professional approach in its service to the common man, business and corporate clients.
India Post will very soon acquire a number of aircrafts to carry
letters, parcels and logistic consignments for making overnight
delivery in major towns of the country. India Post will also offer a host
of new customer services to be launched very soon. These
will include express parcel post retail service, gift parcel post
service, logistics post air service, sale of gold coins through retail
post, express money order service, speed post call centres and a range
of new international services. The unveiling of the logo marks a new beginning in the journey of India Post.
The new logo was built with the help of Ogilvy and Mather.
The St. Louis Rams are a professional American football team based in St. Louis, Missouri. The team began in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams and existed in Cleveland until 1945 after which they moved to Los Angeles as the Los Angeles Rams. In 1995, the club moved to its current home in St Louis.
The team name, Rams, comes from the nickname of Fordham University. The name Rams was selected to honor the hard work of the players that came out of that University. The logo features the head of a Ram in team colors of blue and gold. The Rams were the first team to add a logo on their helmet. Their half-back Fred Gehrke painted the Ram horns on the team's helmets in 1948 and it has been on the helmet ever since. The horns were painted in Gold.
The original team colors were red and black but they switched to yellow and blue in 1938 and after a couple of changes between 1938 and 1973, the team selected its current colors or blue and gold. In 2000, the team made some color changes and uniform changes as well.
Walmart is also considered to be another evil empire just like Microsoft. People oppose Walmart because whenever Walmart moves into an area, most of the small businesses have to close as well. Also, there is a general belief that Walmart employs illegal aliens. Whatever the case may be there are plenty of haters out there. Here is one of the logo parodies of Walmart.
The Walmart Logo says "Always Low Prices" with "Always" in Red below. This one makes fun of that tag line with the text "Consumerism Destroys" "Always"
His Master's Voice, today usually abbreviated to HMV, is a famous trademark in the music business, and for many years was the name of a large record label. The name was coined in 1899 as the title of a painting of the Jack Russell Terrier dog Nipper listening to a wind-up gramophone. In the original painting, the dog was listening to a cylinder phonograph.
The famous trademark image comes from a painting by English artist Francis Barraud, A.R.A. and titled His Master's Voice. It was acquired from the artist in 1899 by the newly-formed Gramophone Company. According to contemporary Gramophone Company publicity material, the dog, a fox terrier called Nipper, had originally belonged to Barraud's brother Mark. When Mark Barraud died, Francis inherited Nipper, along with a cylinder phonograph and a number of recordings of Mark's voice. Francis noted the peculiar interest that the dog took in the recorded voice of his late master emanating from the trumpet, and conceived the idea of committing the scene to canvas.
The Olympic Games are an international multi-sport event subdivided into summer and winter sporting events. The summer and winter games are each held every four years. Until 1992, they were both held in the same year. Since then, the summer games are held during the first year of an Olympiad, the winter games during the third year. The Olympics date back to ancient Greek times, but the Olympic logo was born in 1913.
The logo was designed by Frenchmen Pierre de Coubertin for the Paris Congress of the Olympic Movement. The logo was first found on a flag and had five interlocking rings, one for each continent represented in the Olympic Movement (with the Americas being treated as one). The six colors were included as well, black, yellow, blue, red, green, and white. The colors were chosen because at least one of the colors is in the flag of the countries that participate in the Olympics. The reason for the interlocking rings on the Olympic flag is symbolic in showing that the Olympic Games are intended for all nations to be able to come and compete against one another in unity.
