CakePHP 1.2 beta released
News 10/04/2008
For cakePHP lovers (i am one of them) this year has brought much awaited 1.2 version. I have been using CakePHP for more than two years now and i can say that this one is the best of the previous releases in form of usability and extensibility.
Apart from change in view extension(.thtml is now .ctp) there is a lot of new features which includes clean, powerfull and advanced form validations, very helpful Auth, Cookie, and Email components, Js, Paginator, Rss, and Xml helpers, support for themes, support for DB2, Oracle and Sybase etc. Please refer to this linkfor extended list of new features.
Not to mention that CakePHP is still in development process and this release should not be taken as final or ultimate release(as 'beta' suggests). People at CakePHP are always ready with new and amazing things and one should not wonder (atleast i would not) if we see new and amazing things in coming future releases.
As per my experience with CakePHP so far, CakePHP is a great framework with its rich MVC architecture, strong and easy form buildings and validations, seperate database layers and support for the magics of ajax. The simple and straing implementaion of customized components and helpers provides a strong base for the rapid creation of simple to complex web applications. The list of its featured is very long and one discovers new and amazing features while using it in the creation of a web application.
