			<description><![CDATA[B.moe is right, its named after the cartoon character "Jeep". The Jeep was never given the designation "GP" as is believed by some, which by the way does not stand for General purpose. An early model was given the code GPW. The G stood for "government vehicle", the P stood for weight designation, and the W stood for "Willys". AFAIK, it was confirmed several years ago that the first troops that fielded the jeep named it after the cartoon character.]]></description>
