2010 NBA All-Star Game

2010 NBA All-Star Game

The 2010 NBA All-Star Game is an exhibition basketball game between players selected from the league's Western Conference and the Eastern Conference that will be played on February 14, 2010 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game will be the 59th edition of the National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Game and will be played during the 2009€“10 NBA season.

The Logo for the event is shown above and the following are some of the key elements in the logo.

  1.  The key aspect of the logo is the is the star in light and dark blue, which are also the primary colors of the Mavericks logo. The Star is an important aspect of Texas (a.k.a Lone Star State). The Star also goes well with the "All Star" Game.
  2. The mix of blue lines in the logo also represent a spot light shining on the NBA Logo
  3. The All Star font is very similar to the font of the Dallas Mavericks, but thats just my opinion.
  4. The location - Dallas 2010 is also prominent.
  5. The A and R are mirror images (sort of) and I am wondering if its supposed to resemble the Cowboys Stadium.
  6. I am not sure why the Ball is Green - wonder if they are doing something environmental.

Los Angeles Lakers Logo - Design and History

ImageThe Los Angeles Lakers are one of the NBA's elite teams  and one of the most successful sports franchises. They have always had superstar players on their teams like Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant.

The Lakers franchise was founded in Detorit and known as the Detroit Gems, before moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota (called the land of 10,00 lakes) and hence derived the name the Lakers. The team moved to Los Angeles in 1960 and have been there ever since.

The Lakers Log consists of the team name, "Los  Angeles Lakers" written in "Purple" on top of a "Gold" basketball. The text also has streaks to indicate motion. Purple and Gold are the team colors. Purple uniforms are used for road games and gold uniforms are used for home games. The team also wears white jerseys for Sunday and holiday home games.

Boston Celtics Logo - Design and History

The Boston Celtics logo is Celtic in gold and black twirling a basketball in a green circle

The world-famous figure has his left eye winking at you, his left hand resting on his shillelagh, his right index finger is pointing straight upward with a brown basketball sitting atop, his left foot crossed over and to the side of the right foot, he possesses a big smile (with a pipe projecting from the right corner of his mouth) and he is dressed in black buckle shoes, black pants, a gold front-button vest with a matching bow tie (with green three-leaf clovers displayed prominently in view on both), a long-sleeved white shirt and all topped off with a black derby hat with the same matching three-leaf clovers.

Detroit Pistons Logo - Design and History

Image The Detroit Pistons are one of the hottest teams in the NBA and probably the most consistent Eastern Conference team in the last 5 years.  The Pistons have a long history in the NBA and have a blue collar work ethic much like the city itself. The Pistons logo has gone through a  few changes over its life. The current logo consists of a red basketball in the background with the text "Detroit Pistons" on it. The ball and the text ahave a blue outline as well.

San Antonio Spurs Logo - Design and History

 Image

With the NBA playoffs for 2007 reaching its final stages, I thought I would research the logo of the San Antonio Spurs, one of the last 4 team still remaining in the playoffs. The Spurs are one of the hottest team in the NBA this decade having won 3 championships with their big stars Tim Duncan and Tony Parker.

The current logo of the Spurs is the word SpUrs with the letter U drawn as a silver spur.  It is also said that the outline of the logo is said to represent the AT&T center where the Spurs moved to in 2002-2003. The logo was unveiled at the same time as the move to their new home.
