Yahoo Bang Logo

Yahoo! Inc. is an global Internet services company. It provides a range of products and services including a web portal, a search engine, the Yahoo! Directory, Yahoo! Mail, news, and posting. It was founded by Stanford University graduate students Jerry Yang and David Filo in January of 1994 and incorporated on March 2, 1995. Yahoo! has been one of the most visited websites on the Internet, with more than 130 million unique users. The global network of Yahoo! websites received 3.4 billion page views per day on average as of October 2007, making it one of the most visited U.S. websites.

The Web site started out as "Jerry and David's Guide to the World Wide Web" but eventually received a new moniker with the help of a dictionary. The name Yahoo! is an acronym for "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle," but Jerry and David insist they selected the name because of its definition: "rude, unsophisticated, uncouth."

The original Yahoo logo which stands today is bright red in color and went well with the uncouth definition. The Yahoo philosophy back when the site was created was to be very quick and so possibly the simplicity of the logo went with that philosophy. Over time, the logo has changed and there exists a purple version.

Some of the other variations include the Y! Bang logo or the Yahoo Messenger logo.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an international non-governmental organization for the conservation, research and restoration of the natural environment, formerly named the World Wildlife Fund, which remains its official name in the United States and Canada. It is the world's largest independent conservation organisation with over 5 million supporters worldwide, working in more than 90 countries, supporting 15,000 conservation and environmental projects around the world. It is a charity, with approximately 90% of its funding coming from voluntary donations by private individuals and businesses.

WWF€™s world renowned panda logo was designed by its founder chairman, the naturalist and painter Sir Peter Scott, in 1961. It was then that WWF-UK, the first national organisation in the WWF international network, was started. The WWF logo has an immensely appealing and positive image, which is seen as caring, responsible and credible. This in turn means an inherent emotional and commercial value is attached to the use of the logo, reflecting their appeal and values.

Qantas Logo - Design and History

Qantas Logo 2007

Qantas is the the national airline of Australia. Quantas was founded in Winton, Queensland in 16 November 1920. The name was originally "QANTAS", an acronym for "Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services". I never knew that. Good trivia question.

Qantas recently unveiled a new logo in July 2007. The change to the logo was prompted due to the changes in the structure of the tail of the aircrafts. Qantas took this opportunity to make the design of their new logo a little more contemporary. The new logo was design by Hans Hulsbosch of Hulsbosch Communications.

Some of the changes in the new logo are below

1. The feet of the kangaroo are more visible and do not appear to touch the ground.
2. The tail of the kangaroo appears to be pointed more upwards than before.
3. The italicized font of the airline 'Qantas' is different and shows a more significant lean.

The chain is currently owned by InterContinental Hotels Group.

Holiday Inn announced in October 2007 that it would introduce a new logo for its chain of hotels. The new logo still maintains the green color theme. The "Holiday Inn" text which was a prominent part of the logo is now moved to the bottom of the logo with a more modern 21st century font. The text is now replaced with a stylish letter 'H'. The "Holiday Express Logo" will also be changed.

Owners and franchisees will invest up to $1billion over a three year period in total to carry out the brand relaunch to meet the required service and quality levels. Holiday Inn franchise owners will have to make changes to hang the new logo by investing as much as $150,000 per hotel in new bedding, shower rods and landscaping.
